THE PROBLEM
After reading Georges Perec's "Brief Notes on the Art and Manner of Arranging One’s Books" I couldn't help but recognize the similar thought process and tones of confusion one feels when trying to categorize themselves in the LGBTQ community. Feeling inspired, I decided to organize a collection of books under the same theme. These books would serve almost as a guide to anyone questioning or wanting to read into Queer literature.

THE PROCESS
Collecting research from Amazon and Good Reads, I selected 15 LGBTQ fiction and nonfiction books to compile together. With each book, I noted the rating, the best selling rank, and a few reviews.
Once all the data was collected, I compared all the books to each other and noted the year it was published, the amount of pages, and the reading level. Using Indesign, I gridded out this free form collection of books while also including a cropped section of Georges Perec's text on every page.

THE RESULT
This book was a great exploration of color blocking and dynamic layout. Each spread had a different background and cycled through a consistent gradient. Bringing together these books to compare and organize them after reading Georges Perec's text really inspired how my text interacted with the backgrounds.
